Baker cites need for change, bipartisanship, and community representation in Congress
PEMBROKE –Today, Governor Baker announced his endorsement of Peter Tedeschi to represent the 9th Congressional District.
“I am proud to endorse Peter in his campaign to represent the 9th Congressional District of Massachusetts,” says Governor Charlie Baker.
“Congress continues to be plagued by hyper-partisan gridlock,” says Governor Baker. “Peter’s record in the private sector creating jobs, and in philanthropy working to better his community, is marked by service and a willingness to work with others to solve problems. Peter will be a strong and commonsense voice for the residents of the Cape, South Coast, and South Shore, putting their needs before the interests of his political party or Washington insiders.”
“I am humbled and honored to have the endorsement of Governor Charlie Baker,” says Tedeschi. “His bipartisan approach has made him not just the most popular governor in America, but an effective steward of our state government. The Commonwealth is stronger because of his leadership, and I hope to be a partner to the Baker-Polito Administration in Washington, D.C.”
Governor Baker headlined a fundraiser for Tedeschi on May 18, 2018, in Kingston, MA. At that event, Governor Baker said, “[The 9th] is a district that is willing to consider alternatives, that wants change, and is willing to vote for reformers and people with private sector experience, like Peter. He has exactly the kind of background, he has exactly the kind of history, and he has exactly the kind of experience the people in this district are looking for. I can’t wait for election day, when Karyn and I, hopefully, will have an opportunity to work Peter in his new role as your Congressman from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.”
